Services
It can be very hard to navigate the world of private healthcare. I aim to be as upfront as possible about what my fees do and do not include. I am also mindful that families may wish to use a combination of NHS and private services: I will endeavour to be clear where this is possible. Where a service is not listed below, please contact me to discuss. Please use ‘contact us’ below to request the latest fee schedule.
General Psychiatric Assessment (90 minutes)
This is a good starting point if a child or young person has never been seen by a psychiatrist and/or it is unclear what the key difficulties are and what further assessment is appropriate.
This Includes:
Pre-assessment screening questionnaire analysis
Face-to-face consultation with child/young person and their parent/caregiver (this may be done separately, as needed)
Discussion of findings and provisional understanding of difficulties
Agreeing a plan for further assessment or treatment
A report detailing the above
A private prescription, if indicated
This does not include:
Further assessment i.e. for ADHD or Autism, if that is indicated
The cost of the medication prescribed
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) medication discussion and initiation (60 minutes)
Where a diagnosis of ADHD has been made by Dr Banham or a partner clinician, using a gold-standard assessment process, Dr Banham can discuss and, if appropriate, initiate medication to treat ADHD.
This includes:
Taking baseline physical observations (BP, pulse, height, weight)
Detailed discussion of the different medication options available for the child or young person given their particular needs and circumstances.
Links to information for the family to read.
Information about the monitoring of medication going forward.
A private prescription
This does not include:
The cost of the medication itself.
The cost of paediatric/GP consultation or investigation regarding physical health prior to any medication initiation. It is not usual that this is needed, but may occasionally be the case.
Follow-up appointments (30 minutes)
Following an initial assessment, a follow-up appointment may be appropriate to discuss medication options, review progress on medication or consider the impact of a therapy intervention. This may be done face-to-face or via Zoom consultation to suit the family and monitoring requirements.
I will advise whether would be appropriate to the child or young person’s needs.
This includes:
Face-to-face or Zoom consultation with child/young person and parent/caregiver.
A report/letter.
This does not include:
A private prescription
Any physical health tests (i.e. blood tests, ECG) that may be required for medication monitoring
Autism assessment
I undertake assessments for autism or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in partnership with other clinicians. In the event that I believe that a child or young person would benefit from such an assessment, I will direct you to partners working within Centennial Medical Care.
I only participate in autism assessments conducted to a NICE guidance gold-standard level.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessment
Where a child or young person has had a General psychiatric assessment and presenting difficulties are suggestive of ADHD, a full ADHD assessment may be useful.
This includes:
Pre-assessment questionnaire analysis (school, parent and young person versions)
Face-to-face consultation with child/young person and their parent/caregiver (this may be done separately, as needed)
Discussion of findings
Agreeing a plan in light of any diagnosis made
A report detailing the above
This does not include:
Discussion and initiation of medication for ADHD
A private prescription.
